About the power of time off

10 years, 10 moths, 11 days – the exact amount of time I’ve dedicated to working in the digital marketing industry so far. I’ve loved every one of those 3.967 days. Well, maybe not all of them. But I’ve learned from every one of them, and I wouldn’t change them.

But some months ago I started to feel like I needed a break. Then life threw me a couple of signs, and it was decided: I’d leave Barcelona, and my beloved Buzz, to take some time off in a different country. When I started making my decision public, João shared this classic TED Talk with me, and I realized Stefan Sagmeister had already summed up, very effectively, everything I was feeling.

Every seven years, I close [my studio] for one year to pursue some little experiments, things that are always difficult to accomplish during the regular working year.

After the first 3 days of my sabbatical, I can already feel the power of time off: I feel energized, empowered and happy. I feel passionate about our industry, eager to learn new things, and inspired to share what I learn with you.
