What’s next in digital, tech and society: #Innocon NYC 2017

Since I moved to NY, I’ve tried to attend every interesting industry event I’ve found. A couple of editions of Design Driven NYC, product management talks, Content Strategy NYC at Huge, Chatbots strategies with Dashbot, women in tech with Microsoft and UN Women, urban mobility with Uber….

I’m learning from great professionals, meeting interesting people and discovering how the tech and creative scene in New York is different from the one I know best, back in Europe. I’m keeping myself up to date with what’s going on right now, and figuring out what’s coming.

Innovation Congress will be my next opportunity to look into what’s nextInnovation Congress (#innocon) is taking place in New York on July 18-19. Its content will focus on digital trends, technology innovations and societal shifts – and just by looking at the speakers and topics it’s easy to get an idea of what the next 3-5 years will bring us.

Content, content, content

BuzzFeed, The Muse, Refinery29, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, Bloomberg Business, Cheddar… Some of the most current content creators and networks will have speakers in the congress. Our time online is spent consuming independent content, branded content, trending content, user-generated content, society-changing content… So we, actors in the marketing industry, should be paying close attention to what they’re planning.

Brands as innovators

Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Casper, Dotdash, Away, Patrón. They’re all using technology to develop and sell better products – some of them have been doing it since forever. I can’t wait to learn what they’re up to!

The new services

Creative tech partners like Facebook’s Creative Shop, Firebrand Group, Delmondo, Mobiquity or PH+co. AI tech providers like Soundhound, X.ai and Friends with Holograms. All of them offer services that we didn’t need 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 3 years ago. I definitely want to hear their proposals for the immediate future.

Change is needed

Cindy Gallop is passionate about sex-tech for its power to change how society approaches sex education, relationships, equality, and I’m passionate about passionate people on a (good) mission. Like angel investor Lorine Pendleton and organizations like Indiegogo, Charity:Water, Bionic “the army of entrepreneurs”, the Tech2025 community. We need a change, and I hope that by learning about these organizations and their projects I can find the inspiration to be part of it.

See you at Innovation Congress 2017!
